    What does rain cause?

    Monday, July 21, 2008, 08:16 PM [General]

This morning we looked outside at the CG and saw puddles of water every where fro the rains we had yesterday and last night. Being on a hill and in grass we knew we had made a good decision to stay over an extra day.

Our neighbors didn't have the same option we had, they had work to deal with tomorrow, and they were a lot closer to the hill. It was a good thing they had a 4 wheel drive truck pulling their 5er, because he didn't have much room to manuver the truck under the 5er, and if he got too far on the hill it would be like a sled. After carefully getting the truck under the rig he was able to back it up enough to avoid sliding down the hill.

One of the workers here wants me to back this rig down a small hill sideways tomorrow when we leave, LOL if I get stuck pulling it around to head down the hill he can pull me out, but I am not going to chance it sliding down the hill into the fill dirt they have right behind the rig. But unless there is more rain tonight I'll be OK pulling out and going around through the next site to head down the road.

Today was Jenelle's last day with us, we have really enjoyed having her with us this weekend. I made us breakfast and we watched the neighbors aviod the hill and then it was time for the good-bye, and we were alone again.

Jenelle did call us from Wal-Mart where she was getting an oil change before driving back to the city to tell us about some chairs that were on sale. We drove down and waited with Jenelle until her car was ready. Then we had the good-byes again and we drove off in different directions. She drove back to the city and we returned to the rig.

We walked up to the pool and sat for a while before we spent the rest of the day watching TV and enjoying the quiet. I packed up a few things and Marcia did some laundry as we enjoyed the down time. Tomorrow we will be on the road again headed towards the Blue Ridge Parkway.

    Our trip west

    Sunday, July 20, 2008, 05:54 PM [General]

We had to hang around KY for a few extra weeks for my cancer treatments, but we didn't waste the time, we saw a lot of things we grew up near but never seen, or had not seen in a long time. Like the Natural Tunnel, The KY Horse Park, The Red Mile Racetrack, and Cumberland Falls.

But when the treatments were finished and we had the all clear to roll we took off to Ohio. It was for a sad occasion, my uncle Bob had passed away and they had brought him back to Ohio to be burried because his asthma couldn't bother him any more.

Then we were off on our journey, headed towards South Dakota to get our drivers license so we would be legal residents. We hurried through IN, and IL so we could get to Iowa to get the hydrolics repaired on the RV. Not having the slide or jacks working was not very fun for us, but we were getting used to being on the road and having our backyard change very often.
